#layedback #breastfeeding #biologicalnursingposition #13daysold
So I've had a few people asking me about #biologicalnursing & I was about to post this @lalecheleagueinternational article on my #doulaparis page when I realised it was probably useful to have a pic of the position in action.
So here you go.
You need lots of pillows & support to get started as you need to find a way where you feel supported in a semireclined position. You shouldn't be layed flat - think a 45degree-ish angle. And the whole front of your babes body needs to be in contact with the front of your body, so he's sprawled vertically from your chest down to your waist.
Iv got a whole duvet srunched up behind me to support my back as well as a pillows for my neck and a #breastfeedingpillow to support my arm & shoulder.
So yes basically a whole world of pillows.
This article from #lalecheleague gives you all the other info you need on the benefits of this position & how to do it in practice:

I really like this position because it follows on with my belief in #pregnancy & #birth #physiology. That our bodies & babies are perfectly designed to do the job and we don't need to be cranking them into all kinds of uncomfortable positions to try and control or 'master' the body or the process.
As the article explains, this position stimulates "the primitive neonatal reflexes that all healthy babies are born with. In the traditional breastfeeding positions—mother sitting bolt upright with baby in cradle hold, for example—these reflexes are often suppressed or even get in the way of a good latch. In the biological nurturing positions and postures, these reflexes actually stimulate the newborn to latch on, stay latched on and feed well.... "
